Scoring Waffles
Maddie Trutwin's film Waffles tells the story of an old man with Alzheimer's disease on a trip to spread his wife's ashes. When Maddie approached me with the project, she asked me to write an original song that could play during the end of the movie and through the credits. Since the movie had not filmed yet, I had the script and my imagination to work with. Thus was created The Author.
As the project went into production and post-production, Maddie asked if I would be able to write some underscore music for other parts of the film, which of course I said I'd be happy to. In a moment where the main character meets a man on the streets, Maddie asked for some "ambient lonliness." To me, nothing sounds more ambiently lonely than a Dodie inspired string section. I kept the theme of The Author within the underscoring in both minor and major keys to keep the theme of the piece with contrasting moods.
For the scene in the diner, Maddie asked for some "vintage" sounding jukebox music. I wrote a series of generic songs in a pseudo 50s stye for Maddie to pick and choose between.
Folk Covers and Senior Showcase
During season auditions for my college's theatre program, I (jokingly) auditioned with a foklified version of Dexy's Midnight Runner's Come on Eileen. In addition to a semester dedicated to honouring my southern roots, this audition inspired me to include my instrumental talents in my digital and live showcase performances.

Claudia has also written a ton of original music. Some of those songs have been released on TikTok and YouTube. Use the side bar to view and listen.
